Getting my MCM Comic-On
Yes, that’s right, I admit it. I’m a big ol’ nerd and proud. Last month the extravaganza that is MCM Expo came to town near at Excel in London. It was all about cosplay, comics, anime and more. You name it they were doing it. It is the biggest comic convention in the UK and my third time going to the event. Every time I take that first step into the big hall I become absolutely enchanted with the whole thing. Going alone, you can expect to meet others in the queue that you can hang out with as everyone’s in such high spirits. You can trial the newest games, purchase memorabilia from your favourite TV shows (Breaking Bad overload anyone?) or eat some Japanese specialties. Read on for more about this fabulous event.
For me, it’s the cosplay that captivates me the most. Cosplay is when people go to town and dress up as their favourite characters, whether it be from a films, an anime or TV. Seeing the effort that everybody has made, the detail and precision, you can’t help but appreciate the dedication it must have taken. It’s fashion week but for the weird and wonderful. This is the only place I know where you can dress in your most colourful wig, wear you’re boldest makeup and nobody bats an eyelid. Anything is fair game. Previously, my shyness had taken over and stopped me from approaching people but this year, all thanks to my blog, I harnessed the courage and took photographs. To my surprise the cosplayers were overjoyed to be asked, hopping straight into character and getting their pose on. Here is some of my favourites from the occasion. Can you recognise anyone? What costume tickles your fancy?
