Last week, I aimlessly wandered into the Boots on Oxford Street, as you do. An unavoidable occurrence for me. As soon as my Aldo boots passed the automatic doors, Smashbox was the counter to catch my eye. Can you believe I’d never noticed it before? It was one of the brightest counters in the store. I wanted to treat myself after a bout of bad skin. Their eye shadows looked so gorgeous so I had to have a cheeky browse. Yes, I splurged. My choice was this beautiful trio of pinky purples.
A sucker for anything purple, as you older readers know, the colours in this palette looked incredibly vibrant. The packaging is stylish, compact and chic. It consists of three lovely colours, all with a slight shimmer; a very light pink (Frost), a fuchsia pink (Frambois) and a dark midnight purple (Aubergine). They are a delight to use, soft to the touch and heavily pigmented. The colour that appeared on my lids matched the colour in the tin, always bonus.
There was a little fallout but not too much. It was easily rectified and the colours are easily buildable. A subtle daytime look can be achieved or pack on more Aubergine for it to be transformed into something dramatic and vampy. Below is the look I created with the palette. One with natural lighting and the other with flash. The latter being where the look comes to life. The lighting and colour are as close as I could get to how they appeared in real life. I’m trying to find the perfect spot for photographs in my new home with my new camera. It’s proving tricky. If anyone has any tips I’d be grateful.
I went for a traditional shape; Frost in the inner corner, Frambois all over and Aubergine in the outer V. The effect it created with my green eyes was lovely. If you have similar colouring I suggest you give it a go. A touch of concealer to finish (darkness with the pink will create a tired appearance) followed by black liner in the waterline and lashings of mascara. When I ventured out I did get a sneaky little look from the cute boy at the café so, can’t have been too bad!
Would you try out this trio? What Smashbox products do you own?
