I absolutely adore Lisa Eldridge. Ever since discovering her on YouTube a year ago I’ve been fascinated by her tutorials. When I saw her latest look, “Grown Up Girly/ Date Night Look”, I knew I had to review it and see how easy it was to DIY.
The look is elegant, with a deep pink shade over the eyelid, shimmery purple eyeliner and a berry toned pink lip. Perfect for anyone with green eyes. She used mostly drugstore make-up with only a few high brand items. These can be easily duped, I just used what I had to hand.
I’m going to jump straight into it!
Apply the cream shadow and the darkest palette colour to the crease. I substitued the Bobbi Brown cream shadow in Pink Oyster for my Benefit R.S.V.P as this is only needed to blend the eyeshadow easily. You could use any neutral cream shadow you have to hand. E.L.F do a good one for £3.75. The eyeshadow then went on smoothly and beautifully defined the eye in a subtle way.
Purple eyeliner to the top and bottom lashline. I substitued the Revlon in Aubegine for my Pixi in Deep Plum. They’re both purple so I didn’t want to splurge on a new one. The Pixi went on well over the top lashes but on my bottom lashes was horrific. It was crumbly, transferred everywhere and gave terrible inner eye … goop, which only worsened as the night went on (ladies we’ve all been there).
Blend the mid-tone colour into the bottom lashes and add the shimmery eyeliner. The blending took forever but created a lovely and soft effect. The Rimmel Glam Eyes is such a gorgeous colour and easy to apply. It really does add the POP to this look. I even got a compliment from a guy friend on it (Hi Colin!)
Apply mascara and the lightest colour to the tearduct. I used the sample I have of Benefit’s Bad Gal Lash as I like to use what I have before buying a new one. Has anyone tried the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Mascara? Is it good? I don’t usually curl my lashes with this as it does it for you! Then you go in with the lightest colour from the palette. This really brightens the look, widens the eyes and brings the whole thing together.
Add the No.7 lip liner and Revlon lip colour to lips. The liner is the perfect nude and doesnt feel too heavy on the lips. It becomes even better when merged with the Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. I love it! The colour is gorgeous and the texture is so creamy. It doesn’t look too obnoxious and feels totally lightweight.
I like it the finished look. It didn’t take too long and has the right balance of subtle and special. I went out without feeling like I had a ton of make-up on. I will certainly be adding this look to my box of tricks!
